Cecilia Álvarez-Correa is an industrial engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and specialist in private finance from the Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Roasrio. She has over 25 years of professional experience. This has included time spent as vice-president of Bavaria S.A. and La Previsora S.A., as well as public roles as a consultant to the Alta Consejería, the Consejera Económica, the Ministra Consejera de la Presidencia de la República, and the Gerente General del Fondo Adaptación. She has also worked with the Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (PNUD). She has been a member of various boards of directors including those of Telefónica S.A., Cervecerías de Grupo Santo Domingo en Portugal, Propílco S.A., Nacional de Seguros, Cervecería Bavaria de Ecuador, Banco Comercial Antioqueño de Panamá, Presto S.A., and Emcali, among others. She was Minister of Transport until August 2014, when she was appointed to her current role by President Juan Manuel Santos.
