16:00 to 18:00
Sandton Convention Centre - Ballroom 2 Level 2

How do we teach and coach the world's entrepreneurs? Join Bob Dorf and the entrepreneurial leadership team of the University of Pretoria's continent-leading Gordon Institute of Business Science for a fast-paced whirlwind overview of the was "lean" is taught in incubators, colleges, and organizations around the world.

First, Dorf will cover the basics for educators, including:

How to decide what to teach, how to structure your program

  • What to look for in mentors/coaches/advisors and how to guide them
  • Challenges and Mistakes to watch for among your entrepreneurial students
  • Resources to rely on (including access to a powerful Dropbox resource for educators)
  • …and plenty of time for your questions and answers

Then, we’ll break into groups to help you focus on your area.  Leading faculty members from the Gordon School and Bob will each host a table where YOU share your ideas, questions and experiences with colleagues running similar programs around the world. Breakout teams will huddle for 30 minutes, share ideas, and then report back to the entire community.  Teams will include:

  • Business School and other graduate-level educators
  • Undergraduate colleges
  • Secondary schools and public programs for less advantaged/educated youth
  • Early-stage tech incubators
  • Early-stage general incubators and programs for general business
  • NGO and government programs for the community at large

The workshop assumes you have at least a fair working knowledge of the customer discovery/lean startup method itself, since we’ll be focusing on how to teach it, not the method itself. If you need a quick refresher or introduction, please view  or read about it online.
