Wednesday, March 15
14:00 to 14:50
Venue:
Sandton Convention Centre, Boardroom 2 + 3

Led by the World Bank Group

The session will provide a snapshot of initial observations from the World Bank’s upcoming flagship reports on Innovation Policy and High Growth Entrepreneurship. Both reports are led by the World Bank’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit within the Trade and Competitiveness Global Practice. The Innovation Policy flagship report will offer new perspectives on the nature of innovation in developing countries, emphasize the role of managerial capabilities in firms, and identify new priorities for policymakers to support innovation and productivity in firms. The flagship will also deliver, as a companion piece, a detailed Innovation Policy Guide for policymakers which provides in-depth reviews and best practice approaches to the design and implementation of key innovation policy instruments in use in countries. The High Growth Entrepreneurship Flagship report will present new evidence on the incidence, characteristics, and drivers of high-growth firms in developing countries (focusing particularly on firms that contribute disproportionately to net job creation), as well policy instruments to support high growth entrepreneurship specifically in emerging economies.
