During the Global Entrepreneurship Congress this March, five entrepreneurs from across the African continent will have the opportunity to pitch their idea or their business on a global stage in front of other entrepreneurs, potential investors and entrepreneurship leaders from around the world through the Digital Pitch Competition for African entrepreneurs.
The five entrepreneur finalists include Mawande Mpungose with Ghea Live (South Africa), Karen Yvon with In Stea Ltd. (Mauritius), Samuel Kirpono with East African TechSpace (Kenya), Marlene De Sousa with Attitutde (Mozambique), and Charles Immanuel Akhimien with MOBicure (Nigeria).
Through the Digital Pitch Competition, entrepreneurs in Africa were able to submit a three (3) minute video on the GEN South Africa Facebook page to showcase their product or services. These five winners will now have the opportunity to pitch their product or services live at the GEC.
Flights and accommodations for three nights will be covered for travel to Johannesburg. The winners will also receive recognition as a VIP guest. This will provide the winners an oppotunity to network with key leaders in the entrepreneruail ecosystem. Anyone within the African continent with an innovative idea was eligible to participate in the competition -- which included innovators with ideas, those who are already operationlal as well as those in the prototype stage. Follow the conversation on the GEN South Africa Facebook page, and on Twitter with #GEC2017 on @GECGlobal, and following along for more information about upcoming Twitter chats around the GEC and the Digital Pitch Competition.
